The incident occurred near a metro station in the north of the Russia's second largest city at the morning rush hour, RIA and Interfax news agencies cited local emergencies officials as saying.
The victims, including a child of about three years old, were all in the car reaching the metro station when a hand grenade exploded near it, local police said.
No damage was caused to the metro station and the subway transport remains operating, police said.
