The exhibition at Les Arts decoratifs, which opens to the public on Thursday and runs to April 20, marks Lacroix's 20 years in fashion and makes clear the debt he owes to the past.
"What I wanted to show above all, is that nothing is newly invented and behind every one of my creations, there's something that went before it," he told Reuters on Wednesday.
Les Arts decoratifs, reopened in 2006 after years of neglect, groups art and design from fashion, decoration and advertising.
The exhibition displays creations of Lacroix's alongside hundreds of items he picked out from the museum's own collection of gowns and robes from the 18th century to the 1930s.
"I wanted to give the people who come here -- it could be an old lady who used to work in a couture house, or a young girl who wants to get into fashion or a student working on history -- an unusual choice, a subjective choice of my own," he said.
Chosen according to themes like color or technique, there are sections on the use of white or tartan, favored textures like patchwork or distressed materials or themes such as "Hispanism" or "Liturgy."

So if you think the idea is cool but haven't made it out, we beg, plead, and urge you to come!Next meeting is November 17th, 2:00 PM, at Kiva Han (420 S. Craig St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213)But onto the discussion:
Programs: we need something exciting to get people excited about the group... but what? We thought about a party featuring ice cream, movies, face painting, crazy gender-freaking dress .

Posters: let's think of poster ideas we can put around the community. We propose Keith Haring-style drawing with a snappy, positive line that gets people thinking. We would then use one corner to suggest some books, and the other to promote the program. What LGBTQ-related books are you interested in featuring? What should our poster slogan be?

Strictly Come Dancing winner Hip Hop Pantsula is having the time of his life. HHP has just been selected to shoot a new music video with the internationally acclaimed director Nick Quested and the leggy R&B sensation Amerie.The Setswana rapper, who was nominated for numerous awards this year, including an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Africa Act, was selected by thousands of South African music fans who were asked to vote for their favourite artist as part of MTV’s Making the Video with Shell initiative.HHP, who was yesterday in the studio finalising his latest album, Acceptance Speech, is over the moon about shooting the video for his new track, Music N Lights, later this week in Johannesburg.Quested, who has made close to 100 music videos for A-list stars including P Diddy, Nas, Common, Sting and Brandy, will be assisted on the shoot by South African music video directors.Amerie, who was nominated for two Grammys last year for Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album, will make a cameo appearance in the video.American Amerie is best known for her upbeat R&B tracks such as Why Don’t We Fall in Love? and recent chart successes such as Take, Gotta Work, 1 Thing and Touch.Hip Hop Pantsula, who topped charts with his previous albums O Mang, O Mang Reloaded and YBA 2NY, said: “Nick Quested has worked with so many of my idols. Miss USA Teen: A Parade of Genius

Excuse Moi for the lack of posts, but I've been very busy holidaying in Europe: what a jol!!I am posting this from my hotel room in Nice. It's really tough out here on the Riviera, incredible food, free-flowing wine and loads of boobs out on gorgeous beaches.I have however managed to stay abreast of current affairs, none of which is more important than the Miss Teen USA contest, naturally.Here is Ms. South Carolina sharing her prodigious knowledge with the rest of the world.



Props for mentioning SA, sweetie, I'm sure with brains like that, such as, we can build a great future for all U.S Americans.
