On the morning talk show, Charlize hyped up her new ensemble movie, Battle in Seattle, which opens in limited release this Friday. The film revolves around those who came to Seattle in 1999 challenged the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial summit in Seattle.

Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.

“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.

Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

Sienna Miller and a new male friend hang out in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on Wednesday. The twosome shopped at Face Stockholm, American Apparel and Barney’s Co-op. They were also spotted by the restaurant Balthazar, appropriately enough. (Sienna was also seen smoking a cancer stick.)

She’s an aspiring dancer, and she wants to go after her dreams. She sings as well. It’s her achieving her dreams in a different way.”

Miley Cyrus will star in a new Disney film based on an upcoming Nicholas Sparks novel, reports Variety.

The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star hopes to create a movie like Mandy Moore’s A Walk to Remember. Miley won’t sing but only act in the drama that touches on family and romance. Her momager Tish will be act as executive producer.

Miley, 15, and Justin, 20, were first spotted at church together this past Saturday. On Monday, the twosome were spotted at L.A.’s Century City mall. According to E!, the happy couple got out at the valet stand on Santa Monica Boulevard and walked through the mall, “holding hands the whole time.”

Lynne Spears, the mother of Spears sisters Britney and Jamie Lynn, opened up to The Today Show earlier this morning to talk about her new book, “Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World.” She talked about how Britney is doing now and what it was like to find out Jamie Lynn was pregnant.

On why she wrote the book: “I have sat for hours thinking and thinking about everything that’s happened. It’s been a whirlwind. It’s been a wild ride for everybody. I think there was the tabloid version of our lives. I wanted people to see our family as we really are.”

On getting sucked into fame and fortune: “There’s the honeymoon phase at first. Everything is fabulous. Look at the wonderful trips she gets to go on. Look at the wonderful people she’s meeting. Then there’s the ugly side of things that turns, and we weren’t ready for that, either.”

On being a stage mom: “Britney pushed me, because I was a teacher… In Louisiana I had a preschool for 15 years and then I went into the public school. Of course I tried to be with Britney as much as I could, but when she was 15, 16 years old that’s when Felicia, a very good family friend, she traveled with Britney. I had to stay home, because Jamie Lynn was in school. I had another daughter. Another misconception was that I was always with Britney when I really wasn’t.”

On the 1999 Rolling Stone cover where Britney posed in her bra: “We were in shock at what was going on, and we were in awe. We didn’t have any choice in the pictures. We had no one that could tell us what we were supposed to be doing.”

On her darkest time when Britney was committed to a hospital for psychiatric problems and Jamie Lynn was 16 and pregnant: “It was so crazy at that time. I don’t think anybody was trying to sit and think what was going on. We were praying very hard, because it seemed like we were having no control over anything that was happening. We were trying.”

Nick Jonas returns home in Los Angeles on Wednesday with his new golden retriever, Elvis.

The 16-year-old Jonas Brother, who received the pup as a gift from his family on his birthday yesterday, named the pet pooch for two of his musical inspirations, Elvis Costello and Elvis Presley.

Nick was also seen carrying a 3-ring binder that read “Artistry: Golden Retriever”. Maybe Elvis is going to star in a new photo shoot? Or Nick is reading up on proper dog care?

Yesterday, the Jonas Brothers were on the set of their upcoming feature film Jonas Brothers: 3D Concert Film, which will open Feb. 22, 2009. Their younger brother, the Bonus Jonas (Frankie) was also on set.

Two of the stars of the new 90210 take the latest cover of Us Weekly.

The mag claims that two of the show’s lead actresses, Shenae Grimes (left) and Jessica Stroup (right), are too thin for TV. Shenae (est. 90 lbs) and Jessica (est. 100 lbs) have reportedly been ordered to gain weight and their costars are planning an intervention since some of them have “never seen them eat”.

Entertainment Weekly also poses a very, very similar question in one of their latest articles: “Are the skinny starlets of 90210 setting a bad example?”

One casting agent who works frequently with The CW reveals to the mag, “I know in discussions at ABC and CBS that ‘too skinny’ is no good. They talk about it as a minus point. But at The CW it’s a different story. They’re trying to pull in the Gossip Girl audience and that’s the image: hyper-skinny models.”
