Labels:

British singing sensation Leona Lewis has taken to her brand new blog to talk about her last few amazing weeks. Here’s what the 23-year-old had to say:

“Hey guys, Happy Christmas, I hope you all had a nice time. I ate far too much, played lots of board games and watched old movies, it was brilliant!

“So I just got back from New York where I sang at the Jingle Bell Ball in Madison Square Gardens, wow!! I have always wanted to play there! I caught up with the lovely Natasha Bedingfield and gorgeous Rihanna, we collected a check for ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ for $15,000!

“I also sang ‘I Will Be’ on Letterman which was a treat for me and then I shot the video for the song in the same week. I can’t wait for you to see it, it’s so different from my previous videos. I got to shoot again with one of my favorite directors, Melina [Matsoukas] who I luv and I’m really proud of what we’ve created. I also got to work with Chace Crawford, who is one of the nicest people I’ve met, super talented and he’s in one of my new fave series’ Gossip Girl.

“So it’s been an eventful year and looking back I really cannot believe the incredible things that have happened to me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world and I am truly thankful for all of the achievements I have been able to attain with your amazing support, thank u so much. Hope you have a wonderful new year! Lots of love always, Leona-x-”

Lisa Marie Presley: Stop Slamming Scientology!

Labels:

Lisa Marie Presley has taken to her blog to tell her fans that now is NOT the time to be bashing Scientology. Here’s what the daughter of Elvis had to say:

“I wished I could be writing you under happier circumstances but I cannot because two of my very good friends, (John and Kelly Travolta) the sweetest people in the world, have just encountered the worst possible tragedy a parent could be forced to endure, the death of their son Jett.

“My heart is crying and bleeding for them. I personally would not have it in me to bury my own child. I am writing this because I have noticed that for the most part, people and the media have been very sympathetic and respectful, but there are those certain ones that want to use this horrible tragedy as an opportunity to once again, blame and or attack Scientology?”

“Folks, as popular as it has been to discriminate and ridicule Scientology and Scientologist’s in the recent past , Now is NOT the time. I realize that there is a lot of mis information out there about the subject which has caused a lot of stone throwing but we are not still in the dark ages and it is still an Unconstitutional Injustice to partake in and encourage such condemnation.

“Among most of the crazy made up garbage that goes around about it , It is not true that Scientologist’s ‘Don’t believe in’ medical care, medicine or medical Doctors and that may have something to do with this terrible tragedy. Just like anyone else, if one is sick, they go to the doctor, If a medication will make it better then they take it. If they don’t then they are an idiot and you can’t blame their religion. Whatever medical and or physical condition Jett had, I can tell you first hand that his parents were on a tireless, never ending quest to get and provide him with the absolute best care anyone could ever ask for and need, Medically, physically, emotionally, medicinally and spiritually.

“I am not writing this to preach my beliefs, I am here to protect my friends. To the few of you out there that this may apply to, Let’s not use the tragic death of a child to facilitate your insatiable need to attack and destroy Scientology shall we? John and Kelly have done nothing but spend their lives and their time helping others, making people happy and making peoples lives better. Please let this family grieve in peace. ~LMP”

Lisa, 40, also had this to say about her 3-month-old twin girls Harper and Finley: “PS, I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I have written. I have just been soaking up the love and the happiness that these two little babies have brought us. More on that soon…….:) Thank you so much for all of your well wishes. I love and miss you very much. I’ll be in touch.”

Aubrey O’Day Opens Up About Her Sexuality

Labels:

Former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day has opened up to MTV about her sexuality. Here’s what the 24-year-old singer had to say:

On her sexuality: “I think it’s funny that so many people care. I mean, half the time, I don’t even know who I’m gonna love or what I’m gonna feel comfortable exposing myself to. But one thing that I have to say about me that’s really always gonna be true, whether people like it or not, is I’m just gonna be me. I’m gonna be real. I’m not gonna do anything because people want me to. I’m not gonna hide something about me.”

On admitting that the attention does make her a bit self-conscious: “I think [the fact] that so many people are wondering along with me definitely puts pressure on my choices!” she said.”

On her openness not changing anytime soon: “I’ve never gone into an interview in my life and said that we can’t talk about something. I’ve seen since I’ve been in this industry, probably most of the people that I’m around do that. I don’t wanna be that person. I don’t wanna be someone who can’t talk about who they are — the good and the bad.”

National Geographic's top 10 space pictures of 2008

A rare positioning of planets Venus (top left) and Jupiter (top right) and the crescent moon of the Earth provides a "smiley" effect that captivated Asia Monday night Dec. 1, 2008 in Manila, Philppines. The heavens smiled down on Earth December 1 in National Geographic News's most viewed space photo of 2008.
Snapped by the Mars-orbiting HiRISE camera, billowing clouds of dust revealed the first-ever picture of active landslides occurring on Mars at the base of a towering slope near the planet's north pole in March.
In March scientists detected an interstellar explosion so bright that it was briefly visible to the naked eye—from 7.5 billion light-years away. Images captured by NASA's Swift satellite show two views of the unusual gamma-ray burst, an outpouring of high-energy radiation and particles thought to follow the collapse of a massive star.
Jupiter looks sharp in the crispest whole-planet picture of the gas giant ever shot from Earth, released in October
In April the Mars-orbiting HiRISE camera caught new high-resolution snapshots of Phobos, a Martian moon named for the Greek god of horror. The impact that created Stickney is thought to have almost shattered the roughly 17-mile-wide (27-kilometer-wide) moon.
An image released by NASA in April shows baby stars taking shape in the Southern Pinwheel galaxy. Embryonic stars were found to be growing in the galaxy's spindly arms (shown in red), rather than in its bright heart.
The remnant of a supernova called SN 1006 hangs like a gumball 7,000 light-years away in a composite image released by NASA on June 26, 2008. The blast wave from the stellar explosion is still traveling at about 6 million miles (9.6 million kilometers) an hour, heating gases along its path that emit radiation in visible light.
A supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way has wound up in the crosshairs of a virtual telescope spanning 2,800 miles (4,506 kilometers). Although by definition we can't see a black hole directly, we can see the bright region of radio emissions known as Sagittarius A* that's thought to be either a disk of matter swirling toward the black hole, or a high-speed jet of matter being ejected from it.
A Gemini adaptive optics image of the star 1RSX J160929.1-210524 and its likely ~8 Jupiter-mass companion (within red circle) in this handout released Sept. 15, 2008. Scientists have snapped the first images of a planet outside our solar system that is orbiting a star very much like the sun. In findings announced on Sept. 15, 2008, University of Toronto scientists said they used the Gemini North telescope on Mauna Kea in Hawaii to take direct pictures of the planet, which is about the size of Jupiter but with eight times the mass. This planet and the star it seems to orbit are located in our Milky Way galaxy about 500 light years from Earth, the scientists said.

Like a ribbon trailing from a parade float, a streamer of hydrogen gas seems to waft across the stars in an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Released in July, this festive shot of a supernova remnant was National Geographic News's tenth most viewed space photo of 2008.
