Saints gather in Pashupati holy palace to mark the Maha Shivaratri Festival in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, March 5, 2008. More than 2000 saints came from different parts of Nepal and India to the Pashupati temple to celebrate Maha Shivaratri Festival, one of Hindus' biggest festivals that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is also known as the God of Destruction or Destroyer of Evil, and the day of his creation is the day that is honored and celebrated by the Hindu followers. The devotees pay tribute to Lord Shiva by smearing their bodies with ashes and praying until they fall into a meditative state.
