The protesters blocked the traffic on a main road in Central Bangkok and distributed VCDs and documents to the pedestrians, blaming police's crackdowns on protesters on Oct. 7.

Thailand's Supreme Court Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions pronounced on Oct. 21 a two-year sentence on a land purchase scandal against ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Thaksin was ousted in a September 2006 coup and is now in exile in Britain.

Two people died and nearly 500 others were injured during the day-long clashes between the police and demonstrators on Oct. 7.
