Two-headed baby born in Bangladesh

The boy, named Kiron, was born by Cesarean section on Aug. 25, weighing 5.5 kilogrammes
A baby boy with two heads was born by Caesarean section at a clinic in Keshobpur, 135 km from the Bangladesh capital of Dhaka, on Monday, according to media reports Thursday.
The baby, weighed 5.5 kilograms, was named Kiron, and was moved to a larger hospital in nearby Jessore city.
Kiron was placed under police protection because hospital officials felt that the baby and his mother, 22, were at risk from the anxious crowd of 150,000 that had gathered to see him, gynaecologist Mohamad Abdul Bari said Wednesday.
"He has one stomach and he is eating normally with his two mouths. He has one genital organ and a full set of limbs," Bari said.
"He was born from one embryo but there was a developmental anomaly." Bari said.
Babies born with physical abnormalities in Bangladesh and India are often hailed as living gods. An eight-limbed girl named Lakshmi born in India last October was believed by villagers to be a reincarnation of the four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth.
The daily newspaper Samakal said many well-wishers had left money for the baby's family.

Venice International film festival kicks off

U.S. actors Brad Pitt (L) and George Clooney pose on the red carpet at the Film Festival in Venice Aug. 27, 2008. Pitt and Clooney star in Ethan and Joel Coen's movie "Burn After Reading" which is opening this year's Venice Film Festival.
The annual famous International Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday evening in this beautiful island Lido of Venice, in Italy.
George Clooney kicks off the Venice Film Festival with the world premiere of the Coen brothers' latest work but from then on Hollywood gives way to indie movies, Japanese anime and more Italian films than usual.
Clooney and his pal Brad Pitt hit the red carpet to promote Joel and Ethan Coen's "Burn After Reading," a crime comedy also starring John Malkovich and Tilda Swinton.
Joel Coen (1st L), actress Tilda Swinton (2nd L), actors Brad Pitt (3rd R) and George Clooney (2nd R) as well as director Ethan Coen (1st R) attend a news briefing in Venice, Italy, Aug. 27, 2008
The movie, about two gym employees' bungled attempts to sell a CIA disc, is not among the 21 films in competition but audience and critical reaction may show whether the brothers can repeat last year's Oscar success with "No Country For Old Men" which won the best picture and director awards.
The only U.S. films by name directors are Jonathan Demme ("Silence of the Lambs")'s family dysfunction comedy "Rachel Getting Married" starring Anne Hathaway and three-time Oscar nominee Debra Winger, and Kathryn Bigelow ("Point Break")'s Hurt Locker, an Iraq drama starring Colin Farrell, Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes and Willem Dafoe.

The other American films in competition are by lesser-known or first-time directors.
Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" stars Mickey Rourke in the title role while "Vegas, Based On A True Story" is top Iranian director Amir Naderi's bid for wider fame.
Acclaimed Mexican screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga ("Amores Perros,""21 Grams," "Babel") makes his debut behind the camera with "The Burning Plain," a multi-layered family drama featuring Kim Basinger and Charlize Theron. Japan and Italy occupy most of the remaining positions on the starting grid with three and four films respectively.
Two of the Japanese films are anime including cult director Hayao Miyazaki's "Ponyo On Cliff By The Sea."
Miyazaki, who made the Oscar-nominated "Spirited Away," has scored a huge hit in his home country with Ponyo. Another anime king, Mamoru Oshii, presents "The Sky Crawlers" while cult director Takeshi Kitano, a Golden Lion winner in 1997, has "Achilles And The Tortoise" in competition this time.
With the heavy Japanese presence, it could be the fourth straight year that the Golden Lion goes to Asia which won last year with "Lust, Caution" by Taiwan's Ang Lee.
Four Italian films will compete for the Lion: Pupi Avati's Il papa' di Giovanna (Giovanna's Dad); Pappi Corsicato's Il seme della discordia (The Seed of Discord); Chilean-Italian Marco Bechis's Birdwatchers; and Turkish-Italian director Ferzan Ozpetek's Un giorno perfetto (A Perfect Day).
The 65th Venice International Film Festival, organised by the Venice Biennale, runs from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6.

Lindsay Lohan Slams Her Father Michael Lohan
Lindsay Lohan has taken to her MySpace blog to vent about her father, Michael Lohan. Here’s what Linds fumed about (spelling and capitalization corrected):
“If you have something to say to me, say it to my face. That’s what I have believed my whole life. Don’t be a coward and say it to others first, let alone all the media in the world. I think we know where the rest of this blog is going…
“If you guessed it had to do with my father–then you guessed right! It really hurts, because I have tried. After all that my mother and siblings have gone through, I really tried to make things work. For the hope of having a father again-wanting things to change- even though people have said, some people will forever remain the same.
“Having said that- the people were right, and he is yet to change- but this time, without his daughter by his side- He has become a public embarrassment and a bully- To my family, my co-workers, my friends, and a girl that means the world to me (it’s obvious who that is).
“He has no idea what is going on in my life because I have chosen not to involve him in it- His recent attack on my life and my loved ones is simply for an ADDICTION THAT HE HAS- FAME. Why he feels the need to comment on anything in my life that i may want to keep private, is beyond comprehension- If he really cared about me and my life, then he would learn to respect my wishes by staying out of it.
“[BFF Samantha Ronson] has not and would never sell me out. Nor has my mother, who is wonderful. This further proves that any information that my father has about me or the people in my life is internet based- and about as accurate as a page six item. I’m not going to engage any further, though i probably could go on… I have said enough, i have a therapist, and it is not the the camera man at x17.”
You tell it like it is, Lindsay!

Katie Holmes Has Mile-High Smile
Katie - Make it work!
Katie Holmes smiles wide for photographers as she leaves the Minetta Theater in New York City after rehearsals for her upcoming Broadway debut in All My Sons on Wednesday.
Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame recently chimed in on Katie’s recent fashion choices, saying “I have to say, Katie Holmes has become so much more sophisticated in so many ways, but I think she’s in a dip right now. I can’t explain it. She ascended from this tomboyish waif look to an incredible sexy sophisticate. We realize how much style she’s capable of. I don’t get it.”
Specifically speaking to the baggy jeans look, Gunn commented, “With the right shape, it can work very well.”
WHAT DO YOU THINK about Katie’s recent fashion choices - YAY or NAY?
